Pucker up for pucker-crete

Pucker-crete is achieved by cutting random geometrical shapes in the surface of freshly placed concrete. It is all “grooved” randomly by an artisan with a grooving tool. The grooves help control cracking while allowing for water to travel freely off of the slab. It can be cut to look like large flagstone,tile, or smaller stone. The surface can be finished with a multitude of techniques including: hand brushed, salt finish, stamped, or slicked. The slab is usually poured with a color admixture of your choice or can be left plain. Also individual stones may be stained to allow for color and tone variations amongst the slab. It is labor intensive but Pucker-crete slabs are one of a kind with no patio, etc. looking the same. This technique is primarily offered out west and we are one of a handful that offer it in the south. It is hands down one of my favorite finishes to do.

People always ask me if their is something they can do to their landscape to make it more appealing. Their is! Custom designs can be engraved in the surface to create one of a kind landscapes. These designs could be based on personal interests, something they have previously seen, or my recommendation. The patio below was poured 5 years ago and had many rust stains and sealer penetrating the surface. 2 days after I arrived on the job this is how the homeowner and I decided to accentuate their overall landscape. The compass actually points north.

Another custom patio complete with an etched Mexican sun. This particular patio’s creative design will be a centerpiece of this landscape for years to come. Complete with a fire pit ring for all of those chilly nights. A great upgrade for my clients and their friends to huddle up next to. This patio was created for an affordable price to fit most budgets and can be installed in several different colors to enhance all landscapes.
